Welcome to Mrs. Robb's Home Page
Happy New Year!
We been hard at work in 2018 with Social Studies lessons on landmarks and regions, reviewing multiplication and embarking on division, focusing on prefixes in our word study, and researching hurricanes for our next writing unit.
As a member of the district ELA Pilot Team, I am tasked with trying out another series for possible adoption. I have chosen a unit that focuses on balance in nature. Students will be reading and writing about this topic. This particular unit was chosen because it also relates to some of our Science standards.
Although your child does not have specific written assignments to complete and return on a daily basis, there are still homework expectations in third grade. Your child should be reading a "just right" book for at least 20 minutes each night (30 minutes is recommended), working on Reflex to master math facts until the "green light" at least 3 times per week, and completing any unfinished class work.
In regards to Reflex, mastering addition and subtraction facts is a second grade standard. All students will now focus on the third grade standard of mastering multiplication and division facts from 0 to 10. If your child has not mastered his/her addition and subtraction facts, you will receive an email with your child's "fact detail".
