Word Study

The spelling program, "word study," derives from the research-based materials in Words Their Way by Donald Bear and Shane Templeton (4th ed.). This program is a phonetic spelling program that is used to support our weekly high-frequency word lists that student are working on in class.

Word Study teaches students to look critically at words so they can build a deeper understanding of how spelling works to represent sounds and meaning. This is accomplished by sorting words into like categories based on the features they share.
