Principal's Welcome
Dear Cool Cat Families,
Welcome to the New School Year!
I am thrilled to welcome you to a brand-new year at Daves Avenue! This year, we are proud to serve approximately 590 students from our youngest learners in Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade. Our top priorities remain creating and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and supportive learning atmosphere where every student can reach their full potential. We are fortunate to have the most committed and caring teachers, instructional aides, specialists, custodians, food service staff, and office team, individuals who make every day special for our Cool Cats.
Our vision is for all students to become PAWSitive Scholars, and our mission is for them to carry these attributes into our school, our community, and our world. We take great pride in explicitly teaching all students how to show their PAWS: Peaceful, Aware, Wise, and Safe in every space on campus. These habits build not only personal and academic growth but also the self-advocacy skills students need for their lifelong educational journey.
We believe that the best outcomes for students happen when we work in partnership with parents. Together, we can foster creative thinking, innovation, academic excellence, curiosity, thoughtful change, and good citizenship. With strong parent participation, we truly are a team working for the success of all students. Your involvement, whether in the classroom, at events, or supporting from home, makes a powerful difference in the learning experience of every child at Daves Avenue.
Our school handbook provides important information for students and families. Please take time to review it together before the year begins and keep it handy for reference. If you have any questions, please call the school office at 408-335-2200. We are always happy to help.
The 2025–26 school year promises to be filled with personal and academic growth, challenges, and accomplishments. Thank you for being an essential part of our Cool Cat Family. I look forward to seeing the many ways our students will shine this year.
Sincerely,
David Freed, PhD
Principal
