Bicycles

Bicycle Safety: Please take note of the bicycle rules below. Our bicycle rules are strict because we care about the safety of each child. Remember that riding to school is a privilege. Those who choose to ride a bicycle to school must agree to abide by our safety rules as stated. A student may lose the privilege of riding a bicycle or scooter to school if the rules are not followed.   Parents can help by reporting any student observed endangering his/her safety or the safety of another student.

BICYCLE RULES

  • Students younger than 3rd grade may ride to school only when accompanied by an adult.
  • Bike riders MUST wear safety helmets for their own protection when riding bikes to school.   This is a state law.
  • Use hand signals to let cars know which direction you’re turning. Straight-arm signals left; bent elbow signals right.
  • Bicycles MUST be walked through crosswalks, on sidewalks surrounding the school and inside the school grounds. This also applies to skateboards, scooters, and Heelys.
  • Bicycles will be parked and locked in the bicycle racks located on the playground. Standing around the bike rack area is not permitted. Lock your bike and leave the area immediately.
  • Pedestrians always have the right of way.   Students are expected to show respect and courtesy for pedestrians. Caution and care should be exercised when passing or sharing the sidewalks with others. Students may not block walkways with their bikes/scooters or ride recklessly in a way that endangers pedestrians or themselves.
